This was the most often asked question last week! Yes, we are planning to sell our house, for a few reasons. We don't want to leave a burden for someone else to carry. If we rent our home, we'll have to rely on friends or a service to find/keep renters, provide repairs, upkeep, and maintenance.
We enjoy everything about our house, we love our neighborhood, and the yard...the fruit trees my dad planted, and the incredible playset the grandparents bought for the kiddos..... but we aren't called to love these things; we are called by God to love people. We want our focus to be on the people of Thailand, not the possessions left behind in the USA.
At our garage sale a neighbor told me she wanted to buy our house. They are adopting children and need a bigger home: including a backyard for the children to play. Doesn't that warm your heart? Our house could be a home to children who right now don't have parents. It's a reminder of the reason we're going to Thailand- a country where 99% of the people don't know their heavenly Father.
It's easier to walk away from earthly possessions when you see the importance of what you're walking towards.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
look full in His wonderful face,
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
in the light of his glory and grace.
